Synopsis
The noise of violence and the shouting of politics has often overshadowed the history of non-violent activist struggle in the Basque Country. The film presents a chain of overlooked or forgotten events with the intention of provoking reflections and emotions that lead to stirring consciences and attitudes. The protagonists of these movements have returned to the places of their struggles to remember how they were, what their outcomes were, and to provide reflections on non-violent activism. In 1963, Martin Luther King wrote from prison: “We must understand the need for ‘non-violent TENSION’ that serves as a stimulus to help people overcome the dark depths of prejudice, rising to the majestic heights of understanding and brotherhood…”. The film brings together a history of events and thoughts that serve as a stimulus to project them toward the present and future of our country, in defense of life, peace, active non-violence, participation, human rights, and the change to be made in freedom and with social justice. A team from Contrast was involved in the making of this documentary, which premiered at the Donostia Human Rights Film Festival.
